Half priced cars and the lowest prices in a decade: believe it!

Folks, I can’t make enough noise about this subject. These are tough times for all of us and really tough times for the car business. That said,  one persons misfortune is another persons opportunity. The simple fact is that today at Belanger Pontiac Buick, we are selling cars cheaper than we did a decade ago, and that’s no exaggeration!

For example, in 1999, you could get a new Sunfire for about $17,500. Today, we can offer you a 2009 G5 (Sunfire’s beautiful replacement)  for less than $15,500. A 1998 Transport van sold for about $25, 500. Today we can put you into a 2008 Montana SV6 for less than $15,000! Want one more? I can put you into  a 2009 Sierra EXT 4X4 pick-up for less than $27,000, but in 1998 you would have had to pay almost $34,000 for the same truck (nowhere near as nice). We actually have qality late model used vehicles that are half their original price.

When you add in the exceptional extras that Pontiac is offering you as part of the “All-in one-promotion” , believe me when I tell you: It will never be this good again!

We are well -stocked with plenty of exceptionally priced vehicles, so whatever your need or taste, we can help you. I hope we see you soon!

Safe driving.

GM Canada awards grants to athletes and coaches

I read this nice piece of news over at Canadian Driver, and thought I would share it with you.

GM Canada awards grants to athletes and coaches Vancouver, British Columbia – Ten Canadian high-performance coaches and their Olympic hopeful athletes have each been awarded a $10,000 grant for coach development through GM Canada’s Making Dreams Possible Program. In addition, 52 community clubs from across Canada each received a grant of $2,000 for coach training and development activities. The announcement is the third phase of GM’s overall pledge to provide a competitive edge for Canadian athletes. The automaker said that its direct support of coach education and development through the program has affected over 15,000 coaches and 170,000 athletes in 155 communities across the country. “GM has a long history of supporting Canadian athletes and is proud to help our Olympic hopefuls realize their dreams by supporting their coaches as they work together to stand atop the podium just one short year from now in Vancouver at the 2010 Winter Games,” said Tom Laurie, GM of Canada’s Olympic Partnership Manager. General Motors of Canada is the Official Vehicle Partner of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

There’s good news – provided you know where to look for it.

On March 11, members of the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union ratified a new competitive agreement with GM Canada (GMCL), which is vital to the continued transformation of the Canadian operations. You can read the entire release here:

http://www.prdomain.com/companies/G/GeneralMotors/newsreleases/200931368959.htm

There was also some unexpected positive news somewhat buried in the last paragraph in the release. Here it is:

“In the U.S., GM has also indicated they have advised the Presidential Task Force on The Auto Industry that the $2 billion of funding previously requested for March would not be needed at this time. This development reflects the acceleration of GM’s company-wide cost reduction efforts as well as pro-active deferrals of spending previously anticipated in January and February. GM will remain in regular contact with the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry on the status of GM’s restructuring actions, its liquidity position, timing of future funding requests, and other relevant topics of mutual concern.”

I think that not GM’s taking 2 billion in approved funding at this time is a great sign. It says that we may be getting to the bottom, and the bottom is usually always followed by an upturn. Despite current tough times, GM is and has been an exceptional company, and I believe that it become an even better company as it navigates through this downturn.

Safe driving.

Best,

Pontiac’s “All-in-one” event is loaded with peace of mind.

Pontiac’s latest marketing event is called “All-in-one”, but it should be called “The Pontiac Peace of Mind Event”.

Now when you buy any new Pontiac vehicle, GM is offering you  3 years (or more) no charge Goodwrench Service maintenance, 2 years of safety and security with no charge  OnStar® Directions and Connections Plan, and 2 years of no charge listening pleasure  from XM Satellite Radio TM†

On top of this, every new Pontiac is backed by the best coverage in Canada with the GM 5 year/160,000 km Powertrain Component Limited Warranty.

The free services will save you a ton of money, and the digital satellite radio will blow away your current limited selection of radio stations, but I think that the real gem in this deal is the 2 years of OnStar Service.

Folks, the peace of mind you get with OnStar will truly amaze you. OnStar delivers in-vehicle security, turn-by-turn navigation, and remote diagnostic systems throughout the Canada and the United States.  The service currently has more than five million subscribers, and for good reason: it’s the smartest, easiest way to make driving a vehicle safer for you and the other family members who drive or ride in your vehicle. We hear amazing stories from OnStar users all the time, and those who have it swear they will never be without it again. It comes installed in most new models and like I said, it’s free of charge for two years, so it’s an easy decision to make.

You can buy a new vehicle from a host of different dealers selling different brands, but when it comes to the kind of peace of mind that OnStar delivers, there’s only one company that can give it to you: That’s GM. You just can’t get OnStar on any other vehicle.

Today the new car business is more competitive than it has ever been, and overall vehicle quality between competing top brands is so close that it is no longer a defining competitive advantage for any brand.  Of course, when all things are pretty equal, OnStar might be that one truly important difference that you just can’t live without.

Beware of fraudulent automotive warranty scams!

It’s come to our attention that some residents of Ottawa have received either mail or a phone call telling them that their automotive  warranty was about to expire and that they needed to upgrade it. It’s a scam, folks!

Unless you receive official, properly identified contact from our dealership directly or from GM Canada on official company stationery, don’t trust anyone contacting you with warranty information. Our data systems are secure and these fraudulent marketers are randomly mailing and calling people in hopes to catch them off guard.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, don’t hesitate to call us at 613-824-8550 for more information on the matter.

We will continue to monitor this matter and keep you updated.
